DISNEYLAND

Day 2 of our Disneyland trip. I guess if I’m honest it’s a place for kids but then, maybe we are all ‘kids at heart’!

We love this place and the entry statement is absolutely true. We left behind any cares and worries we may have had and just became ‘kids’ for 2 days.

There is not a lot I can write about this world of fantasy. We just spent our time on the rides, walking around and, of course, eating.

Food and drinks are a little on the pricey side but really, that is to be expected in these places. It certainly didn’t break the budget.

There were a lot of memories for me; Disneyland is one of the places where we brought our children 20 years ago.

It was great going on the same rides and re-living some really wonderful times of years ago.

Of course, Julie had never been here and thus I was in a position to show her around. Most of the rides and events are unchanged but the park has not got any feeling of being ‘old and tired’.

Julie was happy riding the tamer rides, and good for her. Just because I'me an adrenalin junkie ........

Meeting the Disney characters 'in person' is also great.

Who says they are not real!

Space Mountain was my favourite ride; not that I could persuade Julie to go with me. She just watched.

Even out of season the lines are pretty long with Space Mountain being around a 40 minute wait but well worth it. It is a ‘white knuckle roller coaster in near total darkness. Scary!

Over the 2 days we visited all of the areas such as Tomorrow Land, Main Street, New Orleans and Critter Country. All the themed areas’ rides reflected the nature of the area! The science park was extremely memorable with us having the chance to see A.S.I.M.O. on stage.

ASIMO is the Japanese Robot under development since 1984. ‘He’ is one heck of a ‘creature’ and it was hard to accept that he was not human. I guess it is also a little scary but we loved the demonstration show provided by him.

At night the place changes and becomes new and vibrant. All around one can hear the screams of the riders and the laughter of the kids.

We took in one of the many parades through Main Street, with Micky + Minnie Mouse leading the floats. The parade is loud and colourful and a sheer delight to watch.

Unfortunately the weather turned quite cold during our stay. Officially, it was ‘unseasonably cold’ but that didn’t really impact on the fun times. It did however prevent the firework display from taking place on the last night; I reckon the kids there were more disappointed than we were.

All in all it was a great experience not to be missed.
