ROAD TO ANAHEIM

Julie continues to improve and is now back on track and having fun! We left Las Vegas for our drive to Anaheim, the home of Disneyland. Most of the trip was on I-15, which runs broadly parallel to the old Route 66. As such a short diversion will take one to the more little known areas of the States.

We passed a very interesting road name on the way! I have no idea how it's pronounced.

Our first stop was a small town called Baker, home of ‘The Mad Greek’ cafĂ©, the worlds’ tallest thermometer and little else!

We stayed for about 30 mins to refuel and take a short rest before moving on. On the way there were plenty of signs to ‘Peggy Sues’ Diner’!

Here we were taken back to the 50’s for lunch. Good old  fashioned meatloaf and mash!

What a great little place, we loved it and would return again.

Our next diversion and stop was Calico, a small ‘Ghost Town’ and old silver mining community. As with Baker, I visited this town with my children 20 years ago and little has changed in that time.

We spent a few hours in Calico just walking round ...............

and visited an interesting house and some interesting folk.

From there we reached our final destination of Anaheim and checked in to our hotel, ready for 3 days at Disneyland Park and Adventure Park.

Hopefully my daughter in Australia will read this bit of the blog and will have some treasured memories restored.
