Poor Julie; She woke up this morning after having an awful
night in and out of the bathroom. She looked shocking and felt worse with bad
nausea and a bad bout of the runs.
Unfortunately we had to leave our hotel and travel 4+ hours to
Las Vegas so poor Julie had to suffer in the car for the trip. When we arrived
all Julie was able to do was curl up in bed and rest. That is where she
remained from arrival at 2.30 pm on Saturday until 4.00 pm on Monday. What a ‘great’
start to her visit to one of the great cities of the world!
All indications were that she had a form of food poisoning,
probably not surprising considering the amount of travelling and diversity of eating
out we have been doing.
The hotel Riviera, where we were staying was fabulous and poor
Julie was too unwell to appreciate it. To be fair, she insists she would rather
be unwell in a luxury penthouse suite rather than just any old hotel room. Fair
call!
We had booked the suite, on the 29th floor at a
great price so took advantage of the price. It was cheaper than our other rooms
in USA.
The view are great and directly opposite the well-known casino
Circus Circus on the Vegas Strip.
We had a trip booked to the Grand Canyon on the Monday which
was scheduled to depart from the hotel at 5.45 am in the morning. Since it had
been pre-paid she insisted that I did go, but I wasn’t happy leaving her alone.
She insisted that she would feel worse if I didn’t and demanded that I bring
back photos.
She was improved on Monday but still not well enough to go
anywhere. All she wanted to do was sleep. Again I had a booked trip for a helicopter
trip with landing on the floor of the Canyon. This was only a half day trip and
Julie was feeling better I went.
By Monday afternoon she was feeling much better and was able
to have a small lunch. As such, we did manage to get out for our last evening
in Vegas.
More about the activities in the next blog.
