We were fortunate to be able to attend a black tie dinner on a
moored boat on the Thames River.
The crowds were building as we approached our venue; reminsicent of the crowds we usually see for Australia Day in Perth.
The boat we were on was called the Hispaniola. It is a permanently
moored restaurant opposite the London Eye and advertises as having the best
view of the fireworks. They did not lie!
The meal was superb and the drink just kept flowing, starting
with champagne and following with an unlimited supply of quality red and white
wine.
As midnight approached we all moved to the top deck to watch
what can only be described as one heck of a firework display commencing at the
stroke of midnight.
After the fireworks there was dancing on board until 2.00 am.
Julie doesn’t drink but she got into the dancing big time. She had a whale of a
time.
As we returned to our hotel all the revellers were friendly
and sociable with many approaching us and wishing us a Happy New Year.
There was no violence or aggression that we could see, just
hoards of people having a great time.
All I can say is “I’m glad I’m not a garbo”!
