MOTORHOME TO BROOME

We left Fitzroy Crossing at 9.30 am heading for Broome. As we left we took a few extra photos of the great Fitzroy River.

All the recent rains have left it in full flow and rolling along.

We had the best part of 400 clicks to go before we reached Broome so it was all set for a leisurely drive to get there.

Shortly after we started out we met another lizard – this one’s a frill-necked lizard.

Unfortunately he decided not to give us a display of his frill – bugger!

As usual the scenery was beautiful and ever changing.

We found a great place to stop for lunch, around halfway on the run.

It was so peaceful there with only the sounds of the birds to ‘disturb’ the peace. It took us a while to get this far as we are keeping the speed down to reduce our fuel consumption. Fuel up in this part of the world is very high (compared to the cities etc. but not in comparison to Europe). We are currently paying between $1.80 and $2.05 per litre and using around 15 ltrs/100k. Ouch!

It’s worth it though for the experiences we are having.

During our rest break we just loved this tree.

Anyway, we continued onward and arrived in Broome at 2.30 pm. Many of our readers know that we have a unit in Broome at the Frangipani Resort.

We were hoping to stay there for a few days but our unit was rented out. However we did manage to get the use of another unit at a favourable rate so we are staying here for 3 nights.

After all, we haven’t had a break in 6 months so we reckon we deserve a short holiday before we finish our road trip to Perth and get back to normality and reality.

The next blog will be around Broome. Hopefully we will get it posted before we continue on our way. I'm not sure when the next post will be; we will once again be dependent on gaining internet access whilst on the road and in the 'wilds' of the Australian bush.
