MOTORHOME TO KATHERINE

OFF WE GO

Day 1 of the final leg of our trip. I’m not sure when this will get posted as the only ‘time’ we get to do the blog is when camping overnight. Being in outback Australia means we have no internet access, hence the delays!

I guess I’ll get the blogs posted eventually even if it is after our return home to Peth!

Anyway, we left Darwin and picked up our hire van and then set off for the final 2 week leg of our tour.

We set off down the Stuart Highway heading for Katherine. The advantages of the motorhome lay in the freedom to travel at our own pace; stopping when and where we wish.

The heat and humidity in the Top End is such that we are not ‘camping wild’ but utilising the caravan parks on the way.

This at least gives us the air conditioning of the van to help us sleep at night.

It was past midday when we actually left the driveway of the hire company so our trip on the first day was short.

The scenery was gorgeous along the way and we found a great little campsite just outside of Katherine so we decided to pull in for the night.

It was great just sitting and relaxing after cooking a simple meal and having a couple of beers before retiring for the night.

Who knows where tomorrow will take us?
